Meet The Crew
Connected Coast Adventures is built around one belief: the ocean has the power to reconnect us.
Through small group, thoughtfully guided tours along the British Columbia coast, we create space for meaningful encounters with wildlife, nature, and the present moment.
This is not just a tour. It is an experience designed to stay with you.
Meet the team behind the experience.

Novalla Tulloch (Nova), Owner/Skipper
As the owner and skipper of Connected Coast Adventures, Nova can most often be found out on the water throughout the summer season. With over a decade of experience guiding in the waters of Northeast Vancouver Island, she brings both deep local knowledge and a lifelong passion for the ocean to every tour.
Nova’s background spans a wide range of wilderness guiding experiences, from leading multi-day kayak expeditions through whale habitat, to guiding grizzly bear viewing on the coast, instructing scuba diving in BC’s waters, and operating whale watching tours in the dynamic conditions of the Discovery Islands.
She holds certifications including SVOP, STCW Basic Safety, Survival Craft, Marine First Aid, and ROC-MC. Nova has also completed the Marine Education and Research Society (MERS) Naturalist Course, along with extensive ongoing self-study focused on marine mammals and coastal ecosystems.
Her experience, knowledge, and respect for the environment shape every experience on the water.

Brian Shaw, Skipper
As a skipper at Connected Coast Adventures, Brian Shaw brings extensive expertise and a passion for the ocean to every whale-watching excursion. With hundreds of hours behind the helm, he skillfully navigates the stunning waters along our coast, providing guests with unforgettable experiences.

He shares not only sightings but also the intricate stories of the ecosystem. With his friendly and engaging personality, every tour feels both safe, enlightening, and enjoyable. Brian has also completed the Marine Mammal Naturalist course from the Marine Education & Research Society, ensuring the highest standards of safety and expertise.
